Have Fun and Get Paid!

June 18th, 2007 admin

You grew up playing video games. Hours upon hours were spent trying to reach the last stage in Super Mario World. As the years went on, so did the technology. You got a hold of new systems and in turn new games. Mario looked a lot better, Final Fantasy and Resident Evil reached new levels, and then there’s Halo, but as the games were getting better, you were getting older. Now you need a job, you have to pay house bills, car bills, and student loans. Whereas you used to spend 4 hours on a game with no problem, now you’re lucky if you get 1. Whatever happened to the video game time you used to and still do love so much? Wouldn’t it be great if you could get paid to play video games and kill two birds with one stone?

Gamer Testing Ground has an answer to this question, making it possible to earn up to $120 an hour for playing video games without leaving home. What?! It’s possible to earn money from playing video games? In this day and age…yes. With the video game industry being worth over $50 billion dollars, a sort of quality control is needed or else they will lose millions, and programmers are not hired to test out the games to make sure they run well. Therefore, others are needed; Game Testers, and Gamer Testing Ground is one of the best ways to become a game tester. As a game tester, you will get to play and keep unreleased games for the PC, XBOX/360, PS2/3, Gamecube, WII and get paid for it. What gamer could ask for more.

If you would like to get paid up to $120 an hour to play and keep video games working for huge companies like Sony or Microsoft check out the Gamer Testing Ground website.

Crazy Taxi

Crazy Taxi

Now an established series in the industry, Sega’s deranged taxiingsimulator, Crazy Taxi has been made available for PC in full high resolution splendour.Delivered with an incredible sense of freedom considering its arcade status, Crazy Taxi pits players in the downtown area of a busy city in a topless yellow taxi. Your task is simply to earn as much money as possible by taking resident customers littered about the streets to their desired location in the quickest time. Each of the passengers have a different colour ring surrounding their bodies that indicate how far they wish to travel. The longer distance runs are both trickier and time consuming but are worth far more money. Time is a precious element in this game, as you have a strict limit that can only be replenished by successful fares. If you take too long, it’s game over. The more fares you complete, the more money you earn, the more play time you get. The trick is to keep the proverbial ball rolling as long as you can.To add to the cash bonus, you can perform all manner of crazy tricks and tactics like the crazy drifts and starts. You can also dodge in and out of the traffic to rack up some quick points. You need to master these tactics to prolong each outing into the busy game world. It’s also worth mentioning that Crazy Taxi’s visuals, specifically the PC version, look stunning thanks to the various features afforded by today’s latest and greatest graphics set ups.Overall, Crazy Taxi is a fine addition to the super-sized PC labyrinth of games.

Medal of Honor: Frontline

Medal of Honor: Frontline

Medal of Honor: Frontline

A completely new game from the ground up, Medal of Honour Frontline on the PS2 puts the player in the shoes of Lt. Jimmy Patterson, in a quest to infiltrate the German frontline and steal the HO-IX flying wing. An experimental weapon developed by the Nazis, the HO-IX was so powerful that it could have turned the tide of World War II.With the assistance of Hollywood veteran Capt. Dale Dye, assigned to certify the authenticity of the game, the developers have delivered in Frontline a multitude of scenarios based on popular situations throughout WWII. A wide variety of gameplay premises are offered throughout the levels with everything from stealth killing, sabotage, death-defying runs and, of course, the famous storming of Omaha Beach required of the player. The overall essence of the War has been very faithfully recreated in Frontline, with extremely detailed characters and scenery complimented by shockingly-realistic sound effects. Great smoke and dust effects and a camera that shakes along with the action add to the equation, resulting in a WWII console game currently unrivalled for authenticity. As with Medal of Honour Allied Assault on the PC, Frontline is to games what Saving Private Ryan is to films: It’s an atmospheric, faithful recreation of life in the trenches.

Mortal Kombat Advance

Mortal Kombat Advance

Mortal Kombat Advance

Finish him! The unmistakeable words from Mortal Kombat, a game that relied on its digitised depictions of violence to pull in the crowds. If you’re a fighting game fan, you must have played at least one incarnation of Mortal Kombat in your time, and you’ll know by now whether you love or hate the series. The power of the Game Boy Advance has allowed for an impressive portable version of the series to be developed. Mortal Kombat for the Advance is a compilation of several versions with many secret characters thrown into the mix.The ninja selection is massive in this version: Rain, Noob Saibot, Ermac, two Sub Zeros, Scorpion, Reptile, and Mystery are all waiting to be selected. Other favourites such as Kabal, Jax, and Kano are on hand to break up the ninja monotony. The game takes its combo system from Mortal Kombat 3, with linkable moves, usually initiated with a capture-style special move such as a freeze or a harpoon. The four button layout of the Advance makes it difficult to get to grips with this title. High and low punch are now both executed by using the same button, which is slightly confusing at first. The shoulder buttons are used for running and blocking, two important elements of playing MK.Two-player support is offered by use of the link cable and multi-player games are easily the best part of this fighting experience. Kombatants can opt for a single match or choose a two-on-two team fight.Mortal Kombat is a better than average beat-em-up, it manages to frustrate until you figure out the computer patterns and its redeeming feature is still the fatalities. Not the worst game ever made, but certainly not as classy as Street Fighter Alpha 3 or King of Fighters EX

Disney’s Tarzan Freeride

Disney's Tarzan Freeride

Disney’s Tarzan Freeride

A considerable amount of time after the hit release of Disney’s Tarzan in the cinemas, Ubi Soft has finally released Tarzan Freeride, a combination of classic platforming and primitive extreme sports. Developed for PlayStation 2, this is by far the most advanced and desirable of the Tarzan games to date. The story in Freeride is very similar to its big screen counterpart and involves Tarzan and a variety linguistically-accomplished primates. Hmm.Like the vast majority of PS2 games, Freeride looks stunning. The environments, although mostly different shades of green, are stunningly rendered in full 3D, and populated by a bestiary of friendly and hostile inhabitants. Watch out for those crocodiles! When getting into the game proper, players are advised to listen out for the game’s plot; it helps to drive the progression of the game better than most. You will initially begin in a forest area that is played in linear format, Crash Bandicoot-style. Running into the screen, you will learn how to jump, climb, swing and slide across the huge environment. As you progress, the same moves are required of you, but in faster, more frequent movements. The first level is a kind of tutorial that helps to player get to grips with what is to come. Before long, you will be riding the rapids on floating logs and saving lives. It’s light-hearted fun that gets the pulse racing. All of the above, tied in with a series of Time Attack and skill-based challenges makes for a great game that provides many hours of gameplay.
